At the same time, the electric cargo vehicle promises to its owners new unprecedented advantages: high environmental friendliness, performance up to 95%, simple structural design, ease of maintenance and increased service interval; low noise level and, moreover, the possibility of using cheap electricity instead of carbon fuel.
What do owners of the highway electric trucks expect for the improvement of their business?
The tests of highway electric cargo truck shown that they can cover distance up to 800 km (500 miles) with one charge. The charging time does not exceed 30-50 minutes. Furthermore, electric vehicles can be equipped with autopilots, which allows one driver to control 3 road trains simultaneously. It becomes obvious that electric transport requires special services for its efficient operation: • Electric charging on average 600 km; • The availability of a zone for a pastime for 0.5-1 hours for drivers (meals, rest, hygiene).
Major constraints for the improvement of electric truck transportation business
The existing gas stations for motorway trucks do not have the necessary space to allocate up to 3 road trains in a row simultaneously and the necessary rest areas so the drivers can have a pastime for up to 1 hour (maximum charging time). The existing electric charging stations for "Tesla Supercharger" light vehicles (network consists of 1 100 stations in the USA), in addition to the drawbacks listed, are often located in the cities or near supermarkets and do not have sufficient capacity. The solution of this problem is the construction of a new specialized network, designed exclusively for owners of highway electric road trains. At present, there is no analogues of such a network in the US and North America.
Our mission is the development of a modern cargo transportation infrastructure on the North American continent. The realization of the project starts with the construction of stations along the main US transport routes (principally Interstate Highway System) with a length of at least 1,600 km (1,000 miles)
The stations are planned to be located along the routes of cargo transport at a distance of 600 km (400 miles) from each other. At this stage, it is planned to build 40-50 stations.
Taking into account the declared volumes of sales of highway electric cargo vehicles, the start of the project is planned for 2019, the period of implementation of this stage is 1 year.
The project can be expanded in the future by opening additional stations covering almost the entire Interstate Highway System network, as well as the most commercially interesting motorways and the roads of the National Highway System and the main highways of Mexico and southern Canada.
Given the length of the roads is 80-90 thousand km, the distance between the stations is approximately 600 km, then it is possible to build about 250 charging stations at this stage. The project's market potential, if all major highways of the US, Mexico and southern Canada will be covered, with the length of the motorways up to 400,000 km, is 1500 or more charging stations.
